The Compact I CANNOT Live Without aka The best foundation for combo to dry skin

I remember days when I absolutely loved to have the matte finish complex. Now I just prefer to have some natural glow. Especially, when a foundation feels like a second skin. Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Cushion SPF 50 UVA/UVB PA++++ is that perfect foundation!

Description: A weightless cushion foundation with buildable coverage and high protection, infused with Diamond Dust for an immediate, even-toned luminous effect.

Yes, you read it right — the foundation is infused with Diamond Dust! I guess that might be the reason where the GLOW comes from.

First Impressions:

Laura Mercier has always been about effortless elegance, and the cushion foundation is no exception. The packaging is sleek, modern, and travel-friendly.

The best part about the compact (pretty much like all other cushion foundations)is that it opens up to reveal a soft puff and an inner lid to keep the formula fresh and hygienic.

Texture & Coverage

The formula is light and breathable with a dewy finish — not oily or overly glowy (at least on my combination skin), but it honestly gives you radiant in a refined way.

Every time when I apply it, it blends seamlessly into the skin, evening out the complexion without masking it. The coverage is sheer to medium but buildable, so it’s probably ideal for those who want their skin to still look like their own skin.

Why It Stands Out:

 • Skincare-infused: Enriched with hydrating and brightening ingredients, this cushion doesn’t just sit on the skin, it actually nourishes it.

 • Natural glow: Perfect for dull or dry skin days when you need some cover-up without caking.

 • Long wear with comfort: While most radiant formulas slide off by noon, this one stays put without settling into fine lines. But you can always have a quick touch-up.

With all the praises, like my other favorite products, it’s not perfect. Their shade range probably is the reason why some people would stay away from it. Just like other Cushion Compacts, they often have a limited shade range. It might be cushion foundations were first popularized in South Korea, where the market has historically focused on lighter skin tones.

Final Verdict

After used up my first refill, I found that dry to normal skin types will especially love it. Oily skin types might need to set it with powder or use a mattifying primer. Other than that, the Laura Mercier Cushion Foundation is the perfect mix of makeup and skincare. It enhances, hydrates, and adds a refined glow — all while making you feel you enjoy the whole process of doing makeup.

The only downside is the foundation is mostly available in Asian countries. I bought mine from Japan, and this time I also made sure to purchase two refills.
