Many brands have launched purple highlighters; MAC, Huda Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hill, and so on! I never tried any purple highlighter, I feel that's only for professional makeup artists or people who's really good at doing makeup. However, today I am going to try one on my face.
The one I am going to try is MAC cosmetics Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Soft Frost. MAC cosmetics Extra Dimension Skinfinish is described as a liquid-powder highlighter that gives a luminous, well-defined finish. Words can't describe how gorgeous the whole M.A.C Extra Dimension Skinfinish collection is!!! The whole collection has 7 shades in total; Beaming Blush, DoubleGleam, Show Gold, Glow with it, Show gold, Soft Frost, Superb and Oh, Darling!
The first one I bought was Show gold, it's a beautiful peachy gold color. At that moment, Beaming Blush was sold out. Anyway, during my trip to Japan, I bought a new Extra Dimension Skinfinish and an Extra Dimension Blush. The color I picked was Skin Frost. The funny thing is, the reason why I didn't buy Skin Frost at the first place was I never tried any purple highlighter, and this became the reason why I choose to buy it.
Applied MAC Foundation, (under eye)concealer and Skin Frost(lightly):
Applied MAC Foundation, (under eye) concealer , Skin Frost (one light sweep) and MAC dazzleglass (Money, Honey):
This highlighter color is hard to describe, it looks just white in the compact, but it's actually lilac and a little bit pink. You wouldn't see any purple unless under certain lights, but once you start to use it, you can see that gorgeous purple reflection. The main reason why I love MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish is their long-lasting power, and formula. This highlighter is smooth and very pigmented. To be honest, I didn't think I would like any kind of purple highlighter, however, after I applied this one, the more I look at myself in the mirror the more I love it. This highlighter is surprisingly wearable. I really love how it turned out. Moreover, when I look at my cheeks in different angles, it kind of looks like I have a blush on. (extra point for that!)
Overall, I think this purple highlighter is a great purchase, I will wear it again for sure, and maybe along with some MAC blushes. Also I can use it as an eye shadow or a highlighter under my eyebrows or on the inner corner of my eyes. Still, I think "Skin Frost" (or any purple-toned highlighter) would look more flattering on darker skin tones. What do you think ?!
